Over the past year, many of you, my valued followers and friends, have asked about the true meaning of landscape architecture and what my role entails. I often found myself simplifying it to "I'm a garden designer" for easier understanding. However, landscape architecture is profoundly more expansive. It involves recognizing a myriad of subtle, often unseen, patterns that guide us in maximizing the potential of any given space. To grasp this concept, consider the meticulous design of 12th-century Japanese gardens or how, during the Baroque period, designers ingeniously positioned plants to create optimal shade.
